Curfew in Ikere Ekiti After Suspected Cultists Kill One

By Oluwaseyi Akanbi

Authorities of Ikere Ekiti Local Government in Ekiti State have declared a dusk to dawn curfew in the town to curtail security threat.

This followed the killing of a young man by suspected cultists.

According to a statement by the council, the move is to forestall further cultists attack in the town.

Radio Nigeria gathered that the body of the victim was found with injuries believed to be stabs from broken bottle.

In an interview, some residents said the attack on the victim was likely to be a reprisal from another cult group in the town.

Ikere Ekiti was last month thrown into uproar as not less than six people were reported killed in a cult clash.

When contacted, the Public Relations Officer of the Ekiti State Police Command, Mr Sunday Abutu confirmed the development saying investigation had commenced and that security has been beefed up in the town.
