By Oluwaseyi Akanbi

Commuters plying Ado-Otun-Ikole axis were today subjected to difficulty in getting to their destinations due to internal rancour between the two drivers unions in the state.

Radio Nigeria Correspondent reports that passengers were made to alight from cabs at Ayemi garage Ado Ekiti and told to look for alternative means to their destinations.

In an interview, some units executives of National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW and Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria, RTEAN said the rancour between the two unions started at Ayetoro Ekiti yesterday (Wednesday).

According to them, the issue was addressed by the leaderships of both unions immediately, saying today’s display by some members of the two unions was unnecessary.

Effort by our correspondent to speak with the Chairmen of the unions at Ayemi garage was unsuccessful as both of them said the misunderstanding was an internal affair and would be resolved amicably.

Meanwhile, some passengers plying the road have called on the state government to check the activities of drivers unions in the state.

Some of them including Mrs Adenike Komolafe and Mr Femi Falodun explained that the disturbances members of the drivers unions usually cause to other road users whenever they have issue call for a check in order to avert unforseen circumstances.
