The Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Justice John Tsoho has issued new Practice Directions that will allow hearing of 2023 pre-election cases during vacation.
The Federal High Court will on 25th of this month, embark on its annual vacation for Judges, which would end on the 19th of September, this year.
In a statement issued by the Assistant Director Information, Federal High Court Dr. Catherine Christopher, the Chief Judge says the Practice Directions is to provide for a fair, impartial and expeditious determination of pre-election cases.
The Practice Direction is also expected to minimize undue adjournments and delays in the conduct of matters.
The Chief Judge says the Practice Directions will apply to every pre-election matter brought pursuant to the provisions of the 1999 Constitution, as amended and the Electoral Act, 2022, as amended.
Dr Christopher states further that the Practice Directions provides rules bordering on filing of processes, service of processes, as well as on interlocutory applications.
