A two newly block of twenty four open lock up shops , toilet facilities, and a Siennal bus for police patrol have been inaugurated by the Chairman, Irepodun/ Ifelodun Local Government Mr Babatola Ogundana.
Other projects were renovation of police station in Awo Ekiti, Loca Government environment, construction of over one thousand kilometers drainages, grading of roads to farmsteads among others.
Inaugurating the Projects in Igede and Awo Ekiti, the Chairman, Irepodun/ Ifelodun, Chief Babatola Ogundana said that the feats were recorded due to the passion and support of Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s commitment to grassroots development.
Chief Ogundana who pointed out that the lock up shops built in Igede- Ekiti was aimed to abolished roadside trading among traders in the council area, said government would no longer tolerate anyone displaying goods on the highways.
He said that the safety of lives and prosperity in the Council remained the priority of the present administration, hence the need for the people to cooperate with government in term of security in Awo, Igede-Ekiti and other parts of the state in order to put Ekiti economy on a sound footing.
Chief Ogundana explained that government was not happy with activities of some criminals element in Awo-Ekiti and called on the residents to always give useful information to Police men, now that police post in their domains had been activated.
The Irepodun/ Ifelodun Local Government Chairman promised that some of the ongoing projects in the Council would be completed, while plans were on to add more basic amendments to the existing one before the expiration of his tenure in office.
In their remarks, the Traditional Rulers on the occasion, the Onigede of Igede Ekiti, Oba James Aladesuru, Alare of Are Ekiti, Oba Boluwade Adeniyi and Alawo of Awo Ekiti, Oba Suleiman Abdullaziz Olaleye commended Chief Babatola Ogundana and Governor Biodun Oyebanji for the Laudable projects and urged the market women to desist from dumping refuse on the environment.
The Traditional Rulers also charged the environmental officers in the council area to always visit the modern market to ensure and promote clean environment.
Earlier, the Iyaloja, Igede-Ekiti, High Chief Aduke Seriki appreciated government for the lofty projects and promised that traders selling goods in both modern and former market would protect and maintain the toilet facilities, water and other basic amendments provided by government to create enabling environment for them.
In another Development, The Chairman, Irepodun Ifelodun Local Government Mr Babatola Ogundana also said measures have been put in place to construct and grade some of the roads Linking farmsteads and Communities across the council area.
Chief Ogundana stated this while featuring on a Radio Nigeria Progress FM Live Programme, Reclaim Naija.
Chief Ogundana who explained that the present administration of Governor Biodun Oyebanji was totally committed to projects that would engender meaningful development at the grassroots, said that good roads to farmsteads was one of the steps to prevent wastage, open Ekiti farm produces to off-takers and create make for all perishable food items and ensure stable economy.
The Irepodun/ Ifelodun Local Government Chairman promised to always do projects that would impart meaningful on the people and the society through the support of Governor Oyebanji’s administration.
He however called on the people to join hands with government in its efforts to making Ekiti great, saying there could not be meaningful development in an atmosphere of rancour and acrimony
