Ekiti State Governor , Mr. Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji has urged corps members to consolidate on the Skills Acquisition Entrepreneurship Development, SAED programme learnt in the camp in order to mitigate the issue of unemployment ravaging the country.
The governor who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youths and Sports Development, Mrs. Tola Faseluka gave the advice at the closing ceremony of the 2023 Batch A, Stream 1 orientation course for corps members deployed to the state held at the orientation camp in Ise/Orun/Emure Ekiti.
In his words, “I urge you to put all the lessons you have learnt into effective and productive use. Harness the Skills and Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme you have learnt to better your lives and teach citizens of the state on how to acquire theirs.”
Speaking on security and safety of corp members during the forthcoming General Election, the Governor assured Corp members of their safety while carrying out their national duties during the election period.
“Ensure you make use of the security outfit numbers given to you whenever you are in distress.” He added.
Also, the Director General of NYSC, Brigadier General Yushau Dogara Ahmed who was represented by the Ekiti State Coordinator of the Scheme, Mrs Mary Chikezie reiterated his commitment to corp members on security.
Brigadier General Ahmed however, encouraged them to play their own part in ensuring their safety during the national service year so as not to jeopardise their lives.
Accordingly to him, “On our part, we are committed to making adequate provision for your security and general welfare in line with the policy thrust of my administration. Accordingly, we are in constant liaison with security agencies and other critical stakeholders
Advising the Corp members further, the Director General admonished them to take SAED training seriously, avoid the wrong use of social media, desist from unauthorised and frivolous travelling as well as any act that can portray the scheme in a bad light.
He appealed to corp employers to always accept corp members posted to them and make provisions for their welfare.
