The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant-General Taoreed Lagbaja has visited Tudun Biri village in Kaduna State where a bomb attack by the Nigerian Army allegedly killed over eighty civilians on Sunday, the 3rd of December, 2023.
According to reports, Lt.-General Lagbaja explained that the incident was as a result of error of judgement on the part of the troops who were monitoring the movement of some terrorists in the area.
The Army Chief said it was the reports after the strike that revealed the error, which confirmed that the strikes were made on innocent civilians in the village.
He said the sad incident necessitated his visit to the village, he apologized to members of the community and donated ten million naira for the upkeep of those receiving treatment.
Lt.General Lagbaja assured the villagers that investigations has commenced into the incident even before the announcement from President Bola Tinubu directing a probe into the circumstances surrounding the error.
He stressed that the Nigerian Army as a responsible public organization, would support families of those who died and the ones injured, as well as the entire community, to alleviate their suffering.
