Over five hundred corpses buried at a cemetery in Mariga town, Mariga local government council of Niger state have been swept away by flood.
The incident left members of Mariga community in disarray and total confusion.
Due to the incident, about one hundred corpses were relocated from the cemetary to another burial ground.
The Chief Imam, Mariga Central Mosque, Alhaji Alhasan Musa Nai’bi who attributed the problem to activities of illegal miners near the grave yard lamented that they had not experienced such for over sixty years.
Alh Alhasan Musa Nai’bi however appealed to the Niger state government to as a matter of urgency come to their aid to ameliorate the hardship they were facing as a result of flood.
According to him, the corpses swept away by the flood were yet to be found.
