Volunteers of various Civil Society Organisations in Ekiti state have been advised to abide by the concept, vision and mission of establishing the organizations.
The Executive Director of a Non Governmental Organization, “Foundation for Excellent Living And Development, FELAD” Ms. Olajumoke Omisore gave the advice at a capacity building training for Stakeholders, Staff and Volunteers held in Ado Ekiti.
Ms Omisore who is one of the trainers at the workshop described volunteer work as a selfless service for the betterment of the society without remuneration,
She stressed the need for every volunteer to be skilful in doing the job so that they would not just add to the number of volunteers without any focus.
“Dispense your energy as if you are being paid, when a paid opportunity comes you will be the first point of call” Ms Omisore said.
Another Trainer who is the Project Manager of Bibi Grace Foundation, Mr. Thankgod Ochai emphasised the need for volunteers to always pick their area of interest to contribute greatly to the success of the organisation they are volunteering for.
In separate interviews, some of the volunteers at the event promised to make use of the experience gained during the training in order to be relevant in their various organisations.
