Assembly passes bill to increase retirement age, allowances for journalists

Adamawa State House of Assembly has passed a bill for a law to increase the retirement years and allowances for media workers in state-owned media houses.

The bill seeks to increase the retirement years from 35 to 40 by service and 60 to 65 by age.

The bill also provides for allowances for media workers, to enhance their condition of service for effective performance.

The passage of the bill on Wednesday followed a motion for its third reading by the majority leader, Hammantukur Yettisuri during the day’s plenary presided over by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Aminu Iya Abbas.
