Appeal Court reinstates sacked EKSU workers.

The Federal Appeal Court, in Ado Ekiti has ordered immediate reinstatement of eighty six Non Academic Staff of the Ekiti State University EKSU whose appointments were illegally terminated by the institution in 5th, December 2019.

The court also ordered immediate payment of their salary from when they were sacked till date.

The Presiding Judge, Justice Abdul-Azeez Waziri upheld the 2020 ruling of the Industrial court in Akure, Ondo State on the matter, describing the termination of the appointment of the concerned workers as “unlawful, null and void.”

The Appeal Court also awarded the sum of N50,000 fine against the Ekiti State University to be paid to each claimants.

The university had on December 5, 2019, illegally disengaged the workers for alleged irregular appointment among other allegations.

Meanwhile, the judgement attracted a wide jubilations among the affected workers as they to appreciate God

Leader of the affected Workers, Mr Babatunde Ajayi described the judgement as a victory for all, especially families of the concerned workers whose rights had been trapped upon for over two years.
