The Anambra State Government has suspended indefinitely, the Traditional Ruler of Neni, in Aniocha Local Government Area of the state, Igwe Damian Ezeani.
The state Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, made the announcement through a statement by the Commissioner, Collins Nwabunwanne.
Igwe Ezeani was suspended for conferring a Chieftaincy Title on All Progressive Congress stalwart, Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, an exercise the Monarch did not obtain permission for.
According to the statement, the traditional ruler conferred a “phantom” Chieftaincy Title on one Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, in violation of the Code of Conduct and without clearance from the ministry.
The APGA-controlled state government viewed the action of the Monarch as affront and Governor Chukwuma Soludo exercised his powers to suspend him till further notice.
The embattled Monarch is also to convince Government why his Certificate of Recognition as Traditional Ruler should not be withdrawn.
He was warned to stop parading himself as Traditional Ruler of Neni Community, in his own interest.
