Alawe Bows Out As Chairman, Ekiti Traditional Council

The outgoing Chairman, Ekiti State Council of Traditional Rulers, Oba Adebanji Alabi has called on government to empower monarchs as part of measures to curb the spate of insecurity in the country.

Oba Alabi made the call in Ado-Ekiti while delivering his valedictory speech at the meeting of the traditional rulers to mark the end of his tenure as the council Chairman.

The Monarch explained that since the traditional rulers were very close to the grassroots, they have what it takes to ensure adequate security in their domains, if given the necessary backing.

The outgoing Chairman of Obas who is also the Alawe of Ilawe-Ekiti advocated a special fund for monarchs to mobilize local security personnel who are familiar with the environments.

Oba Alabi listed some of his achievements in office to include recommendations on how to ensure adequate security to the state government, settling of communal/Chieftaincy disputes, improvement in Obas’ welfare, contribution to issues of national interest and resolution of labour disputes among others.

He urged who would take over from him to consolidate on the achievements and continue to advice government on policy formulation.

Oba Alabi appreciated monarchs in the state, Governor Kayode Fayemi and those who contributed to the success of his tenure as the Chairman of Ekiti State Council of Traditiona Rulers.

The Alawe of Ilawe-Ekiti in Ekiti Southwest local government area, Oba Ajibade Alabi assumed office as the Chairman, Ekiti State Council of Traditional Rulers on first of August 2019, while his tenure will expire on the thirty first of this month.
