About two million Ad-hoc staff are to be recruited for the 2023 Population and housing census in Nigeria.

The Federal Commissioner representing Ekiti State at NPC, Mr. Ayodeji Ajayi stated this at a press briefing on the commencement of online recruitment of the Ad-hoc staff held in Ado-Ekiti.

Mr. Ajayi explained that the category of those to be recruited include Facilitators, Training Centre Administrators, Monitoring and Evaluation Officers, Data Quality Managers, Data Quality Assistants, Supervisors and Enumerators.

He noted that the application process had been designed to take place online by visiting 2023censusadhocrecruitment.nationalpopulation.gov.ng.

“Lecturers in Universities, Polytechnics and other higher institutions, especially those whose course has to do with ICT, Statistics and Geography can also apply”.

“We are expecting application from only those residing in Ekiti because each Ad-hoc staff will work within his or her community of residence. Every community will have the opportunity of contributing to the census to ensure that the people are adequately counted”.

The NPC Federal Commissioner pointed out that interested applicants must be familiar with the use of ICT, as the census will be done online.

Mr. Ajayi said the commission in Ekiti state intended to have a minimum of forty percent women participation in the exercise, adding that the recruitment process would be transparent.

“The quality of the recruitment process will reflect on the quality of the data to be collected and the success of the 2023 census”.

According to Mr. Deji Ajayi, a certificate of recommendation will be issued to all the Ad-hoc staff recommending them for employment.
