National Population Commission Presents Compendium Of Localities To Stakeholders, Ahead Of 2023 Census.

The National Population Commission, NPC says it has acquired data that will be useful for the 2023 census and national development.

The Federal Commissioner, representing Ekiti state at NPC, Mr. Ayodeji Ajayi stated this in Ado-Ekiti at the opening of a two-day state level workshop on compendium of localities.

Mr. Ajayi pointed out that the Enumeration Area Demarcation exercise earlier conducted had provided the commission with the relevant information which would make the census more easier.

The NPC National Commissioner however assured Nigerians that the commission was committed to deliver accurate, realiable and acceptable census which would be relevant to sustainable national development.

In his welcome address, the Ekiti State Director, National Populations Commission, Mr. Ayomola Adeyanju said compendium of localities was an important tool for the conduct of reliable population and housing census.

Mr. Adeyanju noted that the workshop was organised for the participating stakeholders to make corrections if there is any mistake in the compendium of each locality in the state.

In their goodwill messages, representative of ALGON in the state who is the Chairman of Ekiti West local government, Mr. Sesan Okere, INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr. Adeniran Tella, represented by Mr. Temitope Akanmu and the state Director, NOA, Mrs Olawumi Famuyiwa described NPC as a partner agency which should be supported to achieve success.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Local Government Affairs, Mr. Oluwadare Jolumo urged all concerned stakeholders to cooperate with the National Populations Commission to have a successful exercise, while the NUJ Chairman, Ekiti State Council, Mr. Rotimi Ojomoyela who spoke through Alhaji Yakub Popoola promised the readiness of Journalists in the state to provide the needed backing during the census.

The Deputy Director, Cartography Department, NPC national headquarters, Mrs. Foluke Adebayo presented the locality lists to the participants at the workshop.
