Over three thousand victims of natural disasters are to benefit from federal and Ekiti state governments relief materials and intervention programme.
The materials include food items like rice, beans,gari, salt, Vegetable oil, maize and sorghum, while other materials such as mat, soap and clothes are provided to cushion the effects of the disasters on victims.
Speaking on mode of distribution, the Ekiti State Deputy Governor, Chief Monisade Afuye said that the materials would be distributed without any preferential treatment.
Chief Afuye observed that all the victims were natives of Ekiti and they would be treated as such not minding political parties.
” We are here by the grace of God, we are government over Ekiti and not about political party, or party affiliation and we are going to represent the interest of all” said the Ekiti Deputy Governor.
Chief Afuye said “Ekiti is first, we are going to put the interest of the people first, no one should tamper with any of the materials in the name of political parties, they are meant for Ekiti and victims of natural disasters in Ekiti would enjoy them as part of contribution to make life meaningful to them”
Chief Afuye who explained that the administration of Governor Biodun Oyebanji was poised to make life easier for people, said measures were in place to restore some of the storage facilities damaged during the end Sars protest.
The Deputy Governor also charged the State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA to clear all the bushes around the storage facilities, ensure that all the materials received were distributed as planned.
In an interview, the General Manager, Ekiti State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA, Mr Jide Borode who explained that the relief materials would be distributed in batches, said that out of the over three thousand victims profiled, the materials available could only serve about one thousand victims.
He said that as soon as additional materials were provided, the remaining victims would enjoy the largesse.
