Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji has cautioned civil servants against frivolous requests from government for approval of conferences and workshops which can not add value to the state.
The Governor who gave the caution in Ado-Ekiti at the Treasury Board Meeting organized by the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning in preparation for the 2023 budget said such request would no longer be approved.
Mr Oyebanji pleaded with revenue agencies to look inward and ensure that taxes were paid into the government treasury, stressing that the next year’s budget was prepared in line with the state development plan.
He urged the Board of Internal Revenue Service to improve on its aggressive revenue generation drive without having negative impact on the people, as
government need more fund to execute its programmes.
Mr Oyebanji stressed the need for all public servants to be transparent and cooperate with Board of Internal Revenue Service in its quest to use technology in driving revenue generation.
The Governor pledged his support for the Board of Internal Revenue Service to enable it perform effectively.
