The Chairpersons of the 16 Local Government Areas’ wing of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State paid a congratulatory visit to the Deputy Governor, Her Excellency Chief Mrs Monisade Christinah Afuye in her office today.
The Women Leaders who were led by the Acting State Chairperson, Mrs Caroline Eegunjobi came in their typical flamboyant “ankara” uniform and their glowing hearts could almost be seen out of their chests as they saw Her Excellency who used to be one of them, now in the exalted office of the Deputy Governor.
The women entered the Deputy Governor’s office with songs of eulogies and chanting of “Monisade joo, Afuye jare” intermittently.
According to the leader of the group, the visit was basically to congratulate Her Excellency on the landslide victory the party recorded at the polls and to felicitate her for giving the women wing of the party a good representation which led to her being nominated as the Deputy Governorship Candidate of the party.
In her words, Mrs Eegunjobi who doubles as the Chairperson of Irepodun/Ifelodun Loca Government Wing of the party eulogised the leadership qualities of the Deputy Governor when she was a Local Government Chairperson and later State Wing Chairperson. “Chief Mrs Monisade Afuye is a mother, very peaceful, dutiful, transparent and a core grassroots politician”. She continued, ” she will always carry all of us along and hides nothing from us”
Responding, Her Excellency the Deputy Governor went lyrical with appreciative songs to Almighty God in praise and worship mode. She harped the success at the polls on grace of God which she emphasized must not be taken for granted by anyone.
She said she was very glad seeing them again since after the rigours of electioneering campaigns and t’hank you’ tours.
Chief Monisade Afuye urged the women leaders to take leadership positions as an assignment from God which must be done with all dedication and sincererity knowing that God repays all good deeds.
She dished out some pieces of advice, “take good care of people under you, when they will be speaking about you, you won’t be there. Don’t take what belongs to them thinking they won’t know, it will come back to haunt you if they eventually know”.
Concerning the substantive appointment of the State Leader, she urged the Interim Women Leader to continue with the good works she’s doing that if there’s no constitutional crisis of zoning, that she’s duly qualified and competent to be so elevated.
Her Excellency also enjoined the Women Leaders to set up prayer groups accross the 16 LGA’s and pray regularly for the success of the new administration and and the party as a whole.
Her parting words to the Women Leaders were for them to be prepared for the forthcoming elections and make sure that all APC candidates win in their respective Local Government Areas.
