More Primary Schools for Renovation – Ekiti SUBEB Chairman.

The Chairman of State Universal Basic Education Board ( SUBEB) in Ekiti State, Professor Akinwumi has declared that more primary schools in the state will be renovated to make teaching and learning more conducive.

He stated this while featuring on an accountability programme Awe Mo Ri O, powered by Wadata Media and Advocacy Center with Support from MacArthur Foundation on Progress FM, Ado-Ekiti.

Professor Akinwumi pointed out that about 756 schools in the state had gone through renovation in the last two years and promised to ensure more schools are attended to in the state.

While answering questions on the state of St. Thomas Catholic Primary School Odo-Oro Ekiti, the SUBEB Chairman said that he was aware of the poor state of the school and that contractor has been sent to the school, assured that work would be completed on the school by next week.

The headmistress of the school Mrs Adeyemi Agatha when contacted said that the condition of the school was bad as pupils were learning under a terrible teaching and learning conditions.

She claimed that only 3 classrooms were being managed to keep pupils instead of about 10 classroom expected to ensure conducive teaching and learning.

On whether the contractor has started work on the school, Mrs Adeyemi said contractor has been seen but work has not been moving as expected.

Awe Mo Ri O crew also spoke with the SUBEB Chairman, Prof. Akinwummi to know if funds were available for the projects and how much it will cost to renovate St. Thomas Catholic Primary School Odo-Oro Ekiti, but the chairman said he could not ascertain the cost due to the inflation problem in the country.

He however promised that the school would soon be renovated by next week.
