Stakeholders have advocated a gender friendly society that would give the girlchild opportunity to strive and be more .
They also advocated for a safe society that would enforce the protection of rights and privileges of the girlchild in the country
This was the submission of the coordinator of the sexual and reproductive health , National primary health care development Agency Ondo state ,Mrs Rosemary Adegbulu who was the guest speaker at this year’s international day of the girlchild organised by a Non governmental organization,FARDEF for human development in collaboration with Network of reproductive health Journalists and Ondo FIDA at the CAC grammar school Akure.
Mrs Adegbulu emphasised the need for girls to also inculcate the habits of speaking up for themselves and showing their God’s given talents to the world .
Also speaking the Assistant commandant NDLEA, Ondo state, Mrs Yetunde Jeyifors identify peer pressure to the increasing number of girls in drug abuse .
Mrs Jeyifors advised girls against experimenting with drugs but should face their studies with the required attention to excel.
Earlier in her welcome address, the founder of FARDEF, Mrs olufisoye Adenitan said the program was a project to build the self esteem and leadership skills of young girls
According to her the project would help build the capacity of the female child for social inclusion and self development.
Also in her address the state coordinator, Network of reproductive health Journalists of Nigeria NRHJN, Alhaja Fatima muriana said that the organisation has done a lot in giving girls the privilege to express themselves and access to information on their reproductive health.
In their goodwill messages the chairperson of fida Ondo state, Mrs Jumoke ogunjebi emphasised that women lawyers in Ondo state would continue to ensure adequate protection of the girls and promote program that would add value to the female child .
In her remark the principal of the school, Mrs Adetimehin appreciated the facilitator for the opportunity for the girls t be educated on the leadership skills and role they needed to Navigate through life.
Pads and female and more handbooks were donated for the girls to commemorate the day.
