ONDO BASED NGO K&TRC ENGAGES CHILDREN FROM 5 MARGINALIZED COMMUNITIES IN ITS 2022 CHILDREN CARAVAN

Children from five marginalized communities of Ibulesoro, Igoba, Fagbo, Bolorunduro, school of the hearing impaired and persons with disabilities (PWDs) have benefited from the carnival-like children caravan organised by a Non governmental organization, Kids &Teens Resource Centre in Akure, Ondo state .

The children who were lodged at the Saint Peter’s secondary school Akure had the privilege to enjoy recreation and social interaction.

The camping which was an annual event gave the children the opportunity to visit places like Akure Airport, John Kollyns, Empire Radio, Film house cinema and Akure Recreational club where they were opportuned to ask questions and interact with others.

Speaking to newsmen on this year’s children caravan, the focal person for Kids &Teens Resource Centre at the camp, Miss Olayinka Olabanji said the purpose was to equip the children with social knowledge of their environment, have fun and a broadened mindset about life and give them the opportunity to enjoy thier rights to development and recreation as provided in the child right law of Ondo state .

She said the children had the opportunity to play games, watch educational movies as well as free dancing session with medical checkups by K&TRC partner ( Pioneer Medical Initiative )

Miss Olayinka said Good Deeds Day (GDD) educational books were also distributed to all the children.

Earlier in his address the hostel commandant, Mr Niyi commended the cooperation of the children for being well behaved and obedient to camp authority.

In an interview, the children from the PWD community appreciated the organisers for not living them behind but giving them the opportunity to enjoy the fun side of life during this long vacation.
