Muslim-muslim ticket a political strategy -fayemi

Ekiti State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi says the choice of muslim-muslim ticket of APC is not to undermine any religion, but a political strategy to win presidential election.

Dr Fayemi stated this in Ado-Ekiti while receiving the new executives of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Ekiti State Chapter led by its Chairman, Dr Emmanuel Aribasoye.

The Governor also allayed the fears of Christians in the country over the raging issue of Muslim-Muslim ticket, stressing that the idea was difficult to conceive but, necessary.

He urged religious leaders to encourage their followers to participate in politics, in order for them to contribute to nation building.

The Governor commended CAN for its role in promoting peace and harmony both at the state and national levels, urging the association not to relent in its prayer for the peace of the country.

Earlier, the new Chairman of CAN in the state, Dr Emmanuel Aribasoye said the church was not in any way comfortable with the Muslim-Muslim ticket of the ruling party.

He gave assurance that the body would continue to support Government through prayer and wise counsel to ensure good governance.
