A Civil Society Group, Centre for Transparency Advocacy (CTA) has unveiled plans to deploy fifty observers to the 16 local government areas of Ekiti State ahead of the Saturday June eighteen gubanitoria election.
The observers will be trained on the Basics of Election , Electoral Act and
INEC Guidelines In order to carry out their duties diligently.
Executive Director, CTA, Faith Nwadishi, who disclosed the plans, said her organisation would also open a Situation room in Ado-Ekiti from Friday July 17 to collect and analyse reports from field observers throughout the state during the election.
Nwadishi who expressed concern that the election will be taking place amidst a perilous security climate, advised stakeholders to adhere strictly to the rules guiding the electoral processes in order to have a peaceful poll.
She disclosed that the CTA had earlier paid advocacy visits to strategic stakeholders such as security agencies, the National Orientation Agency (NOA) and media organisations to raise citizens awareness on the need to exercise their franchise and maintain peace before, during and after the election.
