Governor withdraws name of commissioner-nominee

Barely 24 hours that his name was read on the floor of the Bauchi State House of Assembly as a commissioner-nominee Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, on Wednesday withdrew the name of Mr. Sama’ila Adamu Burga.

According to report, the governor visited the assembly to request the withdrawal of the name of the nominee, who represents Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area on the list of commissioner-nominees he had earlier sent to the legislative arm of government for confirmation.

No reason was, however, given by the governor for the withdrawal.

He was the immediate past Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development before the dissolution of the State Executive Council by the Governor Mohammed in June.

The Speaker, Bauchi State House of Assembly, Abubakar Suleiman, had on Tuesday at plenary read a letter sent to the Assembly by Governor Mohammed, seeking confirmation of 17 nominees as commissioners.

Out of the 17 nominees, 13, including Burga, were members of the dissolved cabinet, while four others, including Aminu Hammayo, who served as SSG under the administration of former Governor Isa Yuguda, Dayyabu Chiroma; Abubakar Abdulhamid Bununu and Umar Babayo Kesa, are new faces.
