The Governor of Ondo State, Mr. Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has received the news of the death a broadcast journalist, Mr. Olubunmi Afuye with sadness.
According to preliminary reports, Mr. Afuye who until his death was a Public Relations Officer at the Elizade University, Ilaramokin, Ondo State, was shot by armed robbers while robbing a bank a bank in the town.
In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Olabode Olatunde, the governor described the death as a personal loss to him.
Governor Akeredolu who noted that the dastardly act had robbed the journalism profession a bright and upcoming star, said he personally admired the deceased’s candor, courage and his delivery while anchoring functions he attended.
According to the Ondo state helmsman, the demise of Mr. Olubunmi Afuye is not just painful, but very pathetic and unbearable.
He expressed his heartfelt condolences to the wife, children, family, the University community as well as the Nigeria Union of Journalists over the loss.
Governor Akeredolu therefore gave a directive that the perpetrators of the heinous crimes should be apprehended and brought to book in the shortest possible time.
