Ekiti State House of Assembly has expressed delight over the revamping of the Ikun Dairy Farm by Governor Kayode Fayemi led administration.
Speaking during an oversight visit to the Farm at Ikun Ekiti in Moba Local Government of the State, Chairman of the House Committee on Investment, Trade and Industries, Hon. Yemi Osatuyi
lauded the efforts of Governor Fayemi’s administration at improving the economic base of the State.
Describing Dr Fayemi as a futuristic leader, Hon. Osatuyi said his efforts at developing the state is laudable.
The lawmaker also commended the management of the dairy farm and the joint partner, Promasidor Industries, for giving preference to Ekiti indigenes in terms of appointments in the farm.
He noted that the gesture had not only reduced the unemployment rate in the area but can also empower the people at the long run.
Hon Osatuyi expressed confidence that activities at the farm would eventually have positive impact on the Internally Generated Revenue of the state.
He also remarked that the setting up of the dairy farm showed that the government was passionate about economic development of the state and called for more support for the administration to achieve more.
Other members of the Committee, including Honourables Yemisi Ayokunle, Akin Oso, Kemi Balogun and Olajide Adegoke, said they were impressed with what they saw at the farm.
They urged the farm management to keep the flag flying.
The Director of Administration in the farm, Mr Gbenga Dada, who took the Committee members round the farm, pointed out that about 200 Jersey cows, imported from the United States of America and over 100 cross breed cows are in the farm.
He disclosed that the farm now produces about 560 litres of cow milk daily with the hope to increase it soon.
