Update: Ijero Ekiti Fumigation Hazard; Hoodlums Vandalize College Property

About fifty students of the College of Health, Science and Technology, Ijero Ekiti have been allegedly hospitalized.

This followed the fumigation of the environment of the College by government officials to prevent covid-19.

According to report, some of the students hospitalized were said to be asthmatic patients who developed complication after inhaling the chemical used for the fumigation.

Those with critical conditions were said to have been rushed to the Federal Teaching Hospital, Ido Ekiti.

Radio Nigeria roving Correspondent gathered that most of the students were responding to treatment of the General Hospital, Ijero-Ekiti.

Some staff who pleaded anonymity told our Reporter that the students were writing examination when the fumigation took place though school management had earlier received memo on the planned fumigation.

The incident attracted many parents as they trooped to the College look for their children.

Meanwhile, some parents in Ijero Ekiti have called on the state government to beef up security around the college.

In another development, some hoodlums have stormed the institution premises vandalizing cars and other property.

In the meantime, the Owa-Ajero of Ijero Ekiti, Oba Adebayo Adewole has appealed to residents around the college to vacate the environment so as to avert further casualties.
