Tipper drivers ground activities in Akure.

Social and commercial activities have been paralyzed in Akure, the Ondo State capital as Tippers and quarry owners block major roads to protest the alleged burning of a truck by angry commercial motorcyclists

The truck was last Friday burnt following an accident involving a motorcyclist and a truck parked along High court road in Akure

Some of the roads being blocked with trucks during the peaceful protest included, Oba osupa round about popularly known as NEPA, A-Division, High court road, hospital road and the popular Oba Adesida road.

The situation has made some residents to start trecking while car owners also parked by the roadsides as traffick remains distrupted

Speaking with Radio Nigeria, the chairman of the Association, Mr moyosola Abiodun said commercial motorcyclists usually burnt down vehicles involving in accidents with them

A tipper driver, Mr Femi Afolabi explained that frequent burning of such costly vehicles could discourage the investors and in turn affect economy of the drivers

The people therefore called on the State government to ensure that only trained and sensitized commercial motorcyclists were allowed to ply the roads.
