What could have been a major disaster and destruction of lives and properties in Omu-Ekiti, Oye Local government have been averted through the effort of hunters and Amotekun corps in the town.
The Owajumu of Omu-Ekiti, Oba Joseph Ogundeyi while speaking with Progress FM reporter said that some herdsmen allegedly attempted to invade Omu-Ekiti on Tuesday night where they shot sporadically to scare residents away.
Oba Ogundeyi said that the armed herdsmen later ran away when the hunters and Amotekun Corps confronted them and disallowed them from gaining entrance in to the community.
The monarch who explained that one mobile phone was recovered from the herdsmen appealed to residents to be calm as the matter had been reported to the police for prompt action.
