GAAF opens learning centre in Ado-Ekiti.

A learning and resource centre established by a Non Governmental Organization, “Gabriel Adewunmi Alabi Foundation, GAAF” has been inaugurated.

Speaking at the inauguration of the centre located at number 73, Basiri Ado-Ekiti, the founder, Mrs. Adedotun Alabi said the initiative was to promote quality education among the younger generation.

Mrs. Alabi explained that the NGO was founded in honour of her late father who hailed from Irona quarters Ado-Ekiti and died forty six years ago.

The Chief Executive Officer of the organization who went down memory lane pointed out that her father was helped to secure scholarship to study in the United Kingdom by some unknown persons, saying the NGO is in a bid to reciprocate such gesture by extending helping hands to students in the state.

Mrs. Alabi noted that the centre focused on Engineering and computer related subjects due to the fact that Late Gabriel Alabi studied Engineering while alive.

In his speech, the Chairman of Gabriel Adewunmi Alabi Foundation, Mr. Sola Ojo said some secondary school students had started benefiting from the scholarship programme of the foundation since its establishment in 2019.

Mr. Ojo stated that the beneficiaries emerged after taking part in essay and some other competitions, while one of them was recommended for scholarship due to the demise of her father.

On his part, the Assistant Secretary of the NGO, Mr. Anuoluwapo Oladipupo explained that the centre comprised of Library, Computer room and Engineering workshop.

According to Mr. Oladipupo, the GAAF learning resource centre will enable primary school pupils and secondary school students have access to various books, internet and for people to learn computer and phone repair, among others.

On her part, the Mentor of the NGO, Mrs. Gloria Orosun-gunleka urged parents and Guardians to always bring their children or wards to the centre, as it would afford them the opportunity to be in line with global trend.

A guest at the programme who is the Senior Special Assistant to Ekiti state Governor on Diaspora affairs, Mr. Femi Odere commended the initiative of Mrs. Adedotun Alabi to contribute to the growth of education in the state.

The first recipient of the scholarship of the NGO, Miss Blessing Aladetoyinbo from Mary Immaculate Grammar school Ado-Ekiti appreciated GAAF for its support towards her academic advancement.

There were goodwill messages from Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology, Ikere-Ekiti and the Special school for the Blind also in Ikere.
