Kidnapped Ekiti Monarch Regains Freedom.

The kidnapped monarch, the Obadu of Ilemeso Ekiti in Oye Local Government Area of Ekiti state, Oba David Oyewumi has regained his freedom.

Oba Oyewumi was abducted in his palace when Six gunmen scaled the fence and whisked him away to unknown destination.

The suspected kidnappers later contacted the family and demanded for Twenty million naira ransom to set king free.

Confirming the release of the monarch, the Police Public Relations Officer, Ekiti state Command, Mr Sunday Abutu, said the royal father had been reunited with his family. 

“However, he is presently receiving medical care in one of the facilities in the state as a result of the trauma he passed through in the hands of the kidnappers”.

Mr Abutu added that the Command was not aware if any ransom was paid to secure the release of the Oba, saying his freedom was necessitated by team work between the police and other security agencies in the state.

Also commenting on the incidence, the Ekiti State Amotekun Corps Commander, Retired Brigadier General Joe Komolafe, said the Traditional Ruler was rescued at a forest in Obbo Ayegunle, Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State with the support of the Vigilante members and Amotekun operatives.
 
Retired Brigadier General Komolafe said no ransom was paid to secure the release of the Monarch.
