Delta state has won the 20th edition of the National Sports Festival in Benin, Edo State.
The Ifeanyi Okowa Athletes emerged champions with one hundred and fifty eight gold, one hundred and sixteen silver, and one hundred and ten bronze medals.
Hosts, Edo state came second with one hundred and twenty nine gold, one hundred and four silver, and one hundred and eight bronze medals.
Bayelsa state came third,Rivers State fourth, Lagos fifth, while Oyo state came sixth with thirty one gold, thirty silver, forty two bronze medals.
Team Adamawa, is sitting on the thirty fifth position while Sokoto and Taraba clinched the thirty sixth and thirty seventh positions of the medals table.
Meanwhile, Delta state will host the next edition of the National Sports Festival.
The Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, Nebolisa Anakor made this known at the closing ceremony of the sports festival held at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin.
Mr Anakor said Ogun, Kaduna and Delta states bidded for the hosting rights of the 21st edition of the Sports Festival.
Highlights of the closing ceremony were live performances by hip hop artistes such as Teni the entertainer, Joeboy and Franchize
