Eksu Lecturers Threaten To Embark on indefinite strike.

Lecturers at the Ekiti State University say they will paralyse academic activities at the institution over the failure of government to meet their demands.

The Chairman of ASUU EKSU Chapter, Dr. kayode Arogundade told newsmen in Ado Ekiti that they would have no option than to proceed on indefinite strike as from Thursday next week as a result of refusal of the state government to accede to their yearnings.

Dr. Arogundade alleged that despite the various appeals and calls on the state government to the plights of the University in the area of funding, nothing had been done by Governor Kayode Fayemi to address the situation.

The ASUU Chairman EKSU Chapter listed some of the demands of the union to include five months arrears of subvention, arrears of outstanding salaries and emoluments such as
Subversion of Tax Deductions to paying salaries, diversion of Pension deductions to paying salaries, fund diversion from various units of the University Health Centre, ICT among others.

Dr. Arogundade said the epileptic funding of the University had greatly affected the smooth running of the institution, hence the need for government to take urgent action to avert strike .

Reacting the Special Adviser to the Governor on Tertiary Education Dr Sikiru Eniola said the agitations of the lecturers were genuine and appealed to them to explore all possible avenues and be patients with govts for amicable resolution of the impasse.
