The Ekiti State Government has presented Instrument of Appointment and Staff of Office to the new Onijesa of Ijesamodu Ekiti, Oba Oluwafemi Samuel Daramola with a call on natives of the community to join hands to promote peace and work for the development of the Town.
These was parts of the submissions of the Ekiti State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi while performing the ceremony at the Conference Hall Governor’s office Ado Ekiti
Governor Fayemi who admonished indigenes at home and in Diaspora to come home and contribute their quota to the development of their hometown, charged the
monarch to immediately commence reconciliation process with the contestants who lost in the kingship race.
Represented by the Deputy Governor, Otunba Bisi Egbeyemi, Governor Fayemi restated the commitment of his administration to the development of the State noting that the various developmental programmes embarked upon by his administration had transformed Ekiti in the last two years.
The Executive Secretary Bureau of Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr Adegboyega Morakinyo explained that Oba Daramola’s appointment as the new Onijesa was approved by the State Executive Council at its meeting held on tenth March, 2021 after his nomination had fulfilled the provisions of State Chiefs Law 2012 and the Chieftaincy Declaration of Ijesamodu Ekiti.
Mr Morakinyo urged Ijesamodu to support the new Monarch and eschew actions that could breed disaffections among the people in the community.
The Chairman of Ilejemeje Local Government, Mr Akinola Oladunjoye said that the process to install a new Onijesa commenced on 26th November 2020 and the nomination, selection and ascension were transparent and peaceful.
Mr Oladunjoye commended the Deputy Governor for presiding over several peace meetings that culminated in choice of the new Onijesa by the community’s kingmakers.
Speaking after receiving the sceptre of office, Oba Oluwafemi Daramola described his ascension as a sacred duty to provide quality leadership for his subjects and galvanise all and sundry to take the town to greater heights.
Oba Daramola promised to justify the confidence reposed in him by everybody who had contributed to his emergence as king and pledged his commitment towards collaborating with the government to bring social, economic and infrastructural development to his domain
The Onijesa of Ijesamodu Ekiti Daramola however appealed to the state government and Governor Fayemi to include indigenes in his cabinet.
