The Ekiti State Deputy Governor, Otunba Bisi Egbeyemi has charged workers and management staff of the Federal University, Oye Ekiti to be loyal to constituted authorities and eschew actions that can mar the image of the University.
Otunba Egbeyemi gave the charge while playing host to the Vice Chancellor, Federal University Oye Ekiti Professor Abayomi Fasina in his office Ado Ekiti.
He explained that substantial achievements could only be recorded when both the subordinates and senior staff were in unity of purpose.
The Deputy Governor congratulated Prof Fasina on his emergence as the Vice Chancellor after a keenly contested race , urging him to always justify the confidence reposed in him which saw him to the exalted office.
Otunba Egbeyemi advised Professor Fasina to operate an open door policy and carry all stakeholders along in the day-to-day running of the university in order to realise his dream for the institution during his five-year tenure.
He also expressed delight in the peace that reigns in the university on the conclusion of the selection process for the new Vice Chancellor and urged the management, staff and students to cooperate with the new Vice Chancellor to move the institution to greater heights.
Otunba Egbeyemi who described the new Vice Chancellor Professor Fasina as a man of honour and integrity, said he had contributed meaningfully to the development of the state especially when the government wanted to set up the Technical College of Agriculture, Isan Ekiti.
He however challenged Professor Fasina and his management team to build meaningfully on the infrastructural projects recorded by the immediate past Chancellor of the University, Professor Kayode Soremekun.
Earlier, the Vice Chancellor, Federal University Oye Ekiti, Professor Abayomi Fasina had described the Deputy Governor Otunba Bisi Egbeyemi as a father, benefactor and a political leader who loves the truth and always supports it.
Professor Fasina used the forum to seek for the state government’s partnership in the areas of Agriculture, security and infrastructural development.
The FUOYE Vice Chancellor, who is a Professor of Soil Science, maintained his stands on facilitating meaningful growth in the area of food security saying that Ekiti state had all the potentials to be self sufficient in food production which could lead to wealth creation.
Professor Fasina also appreciated the support of Governor Kayode Fayemi in the area of provision of infrastructure for the University and urged him to support the institution more in the areas of hostel, hall and other necessary facilities.
The Vice Chancellor said that FUOYE was ready to partner Government Agencies, Commission, Corporate Organization and well meaning individuals to ensure a virile society and academic excellence.
In a remark, the FUOYE’s Registrar, Mr. Olatunbosun Odusanya used the occasion to appreciate Ekiti State Government for its various support for the institution.
Other FUOYE’s top management team who accompanied the Vice Chancellor on the visit were the Bursar, Mrs Roseline Akande, School Liberian, Dr. Issac Busayo, University Chief Security Officer, Paul Ogidi, Director of Corporate Affairs, Mr Adeyinka Ademuyiwa, among others.
