stakeholders in Ekiti say adequate funding of security agencies, registration of non indigenes and inclusion of traditional rulers in security matters are some of the techniques to check insecurity in the state.
They stated this at a security meeting organised in Ado Ekiti by the police community Relations committee PCRC, Ekiti state chapter.
One of the stakeholders, Chairman, Ekiti State council of Traditional rulers, oba Adebanji Alabi represented by the oluyin of iyin Ekiti, oba Adeniyi Ajakaye appealed to government to involve traditional rulers in security matters, due to their closeness to the people at the grassroots.
In their submissions, the Chairman of Hausa community, Ekiti State, Alhaji Adamu Imam and representative of Igbo, Chief James onua said the registration of non indigenes would give room to detect strangers in the state and scare criminals.
On his part, Chairman Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria MACBAN, Ekiti State Chapter, Alhaji Muhammed Natanu told the gathering that the Union had proscribed night grazing and under aged herders in the state.
In remark, Chairman peace community of PCRC, Chief Kayode Olajide expressed disappointment over the state of security in Ekiti state, saying people find it difficult to sleep with their two eyes closed due to activities of kidnappers, bandits and other criminals.
Earlier, the Chairman of PCRC in Ekiti State, pastor Joshua Makinde said the programme was organised to discuss on state of security in Ekiti and urged security personnel to be more alive to their responsibilities in the interest of residents of the state.
The security meeting had in attendance members of different ethnic groups living in Ekiti state, security agents, traditional rulers among others.
