By Radio Nigeria.

Governor Adegboyega Oyetola of Osun State has imposed a 24-hour curfew on Irepodun and Orolu Local Government Areas of the State till further notice.

This followed the communal clash that broke out between Ilobu and Erin-Osun communities on Saturday where two persons were reportedly killed.

The Secretary to the State Government, Prince Wole Oyebamiji announced the curfew in a statement on Sunday in Osogbo.

He said that it was aimed at dousing tension in the troubled areas.

Governor Oyetola ordered immediate deployment of armed policemen with support from the army to restore law and order to the two councils.

He also ordered security operatives to arrest and prosecute any person found violating the curfew and those responsible for the violence.

Governor Oyetola advised citizens and residents of the affected Council Areas to comply with the directive as anyone found contravening the order would be made to face the wrath of the law.

He enjoins all citizens to be peaceful and to be law abiding as all would be intensified to protect them and their property.
