In the spirit of New Year, the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees NULGE Ekiti State Chapter has distributed rice to all its members.
The rice was distributed to the workers at the various branches of the union across the state as members who could not hide their feelings showered encomium on the leadership of the union with a promise to continue to support the present executive.
Speaking with Radio Nigeria, the president of the union Comrade Oluseyi Olatunde said the gesture was to show solidarity to members and extend dividends of the union to them.
Mr Olatunde congratulated the local government workers for the grace of God that sustained their lives to witness the new year despite the huddles of 2020 urging them to remain committed to their duties in the new year
Comrade Olatunde said his joy knows no bound considering the fact that no council worker was lost to the coronavirus pandemic in 2020 despite the fact that some of them were among the front line workers combating the deadly virus.
He also rejoiced that despite the challenges of the year, the union recorded tremendous progress particularly the promotion and elevation of some of its members to the pick of their careers hoping that 2021 would be better.
The NULGE president prayed God to grant all council workers the good health to celebrate many more years in abundance while urging them to obey covid-19 pandemic and be more dedicated to their work in the new year.
