NFF PICKS COMMENCEMENT DATES FOR NATIONAL, NATIONWIDE LEAGUE

The Executive Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation has approved dates for the commencement of the Nigeria National League and the Nigeria Nationwide League One.
The decision was reached at it’s meeting held in Abeokuta,Ogun state capital.


The executive committee approved Saturday January 16, 2021 for the start of the NNL while the Nationwide league will start on Wednesday, February 10, 2021.


While directing organisers of football activities in the country to always observe Covid-19 protocols, the NFF commended leadership of the League Management Company LMC and Nigerian Women Football League, for eventual commencement of the NPFL and the women league.


As a way of keeping the Super Falcons busy following the cancellation of the African Women Nations Cup, the NFF approved the team’s participation in a tournament in Turkey and a tour of Morocco in February, next year.


The NFF also approved the participation of the nation’s u17 team, Golden Eaglets in the WAFU, ZONE B U-17 Nations cup in Benin Republic, despite the cancellation of the u17 world cup by FIFA.

The NFF expressed belief that such cadet competition can be useful in the area of talent discovery.


The executive committee also approved the financial statement for the year 2020 and the proposed budget of about 6 billion Naira for 2021.
