Ekiti Government Begins Full Implementation Of Minimum Wage By January.

The Governor of Ekiti State Dr John Kayode Fayemi has assured the workforce in Ekiti State of his resolve to implement national minimum wage and consequential adjustment with effect from January 2021.

He gave this assurance on Tuesday at the roundtable meeting with Cross section of Labour leaders at the expansive conference Hall, Governor office Ado Ekiti.

Dr Fayemi was confident that if there was improvement in the economy of Ekiti State, arrears of all legitimate welfare issues affecting the entire Workers would be effected without pressure from organized Labour leadership.

He commended the leadership of Organized Labour in the state for their commitment, transparency and doggedeness in their agitations for their members welfare.

Dr Kayode Fayemi appreciated the SSA on Labour Comrade (Chief) Oluyemi Esan for his intuition and sincerity of the heart in the way he is relating with the Organized Labour in the state which has built very strong bond of trust and cooperation with the State Government.

” I want to promise the entire workforce that all the arrears will be attended to as the state economy improves without fail, however, workers should be patient and show understanding with the state government” the Governor said.

Earlier , the state Head of Service, Mrs Peju Babafemi has commended Mr Governor for his commitment to an improved public service which culminated in approval given for the conversion and advancement of 603 workers in the state and appreciated the intellectual and Patriotic approach of the current crop of labour Leaders in the state to industrial relations matters.

In his opening remarks, the SSA on Labour matters to the Governor, Comrade Chief Oluyemi Esan appreciated Mr Governor for taken his time to attend the 2nd edition of the roundtable meeting with labour Leaders which is a formidable platform for robust relationship.

The SSA on Labour matters opined that ” though, it is not uhuru yet, l think with usual cooperation of our workers and understanding of all of you here, the Government of Dr John Kayode Fayemi has the ability and well endowed to do more before the expiration of the 4 years mandate he has with you”

In their Goodwill messages, the Chairman NLC Comrade ( pharmacist) Kolapo Joshua Olatunde, Chairman TUC Comrade Sola Adigun and Chairman JNC Comrade Kayode Fatomiluyi appreciated Mr Governor for his good intentions to build a virile and infrastructurally endowed state but urged Mr Governor to defray arrears of all outstanding welfare issues such as 5 months for state,6 months for local government of salary arrears, deduction arrears, promotion arrears for 2017,2018 and 2019, 4 years leave bonuse (2016 ,2017,2018, 2019 and 2020)arrears among other outstanding issues

The organized Labour said that It was very expedient for the state government to pay all these arrears to prevent depression and suicide on the part of Ekiti State workers.
