A middle aged man narrowly escaped death last night when his vehicle was gotten by fire on motion at the New Oja-Oba Market, Ado Ekiti.
Witnesses said the vehicle, a blue Mazda 323 Saloon Car with registration number ONDO AE 301 SUA was coming from New Garage and heading towards Ijigbo around half past eight in the night when it suddenly busted into flame.
According to the witnesses, a pedestrian noticed that there was flame under the engine of the moving car and quickly drew the attention of the driver to it, but before he could manage to park, the fire had gone beyond control.
The people added that, the driver managed to escape the fire while all efforts by hundreds of people in the area to put out the fire proved abortive.
It however took the intervention of men of the Ekiti State Fire Service to put out the fire which also affected goods of traders on the road sides.
Some of the goods affected include shoes, food items, chairs and tables among others.
The cause of the fire could not be assertained as the driver said he could not state what went wrong.
