WAEC Withholds Over 200 Thousand SSCE Results.

The West African Examination Council, WAEC has released the results of the 2020 Senior School Certificates Examination, SSCE.

The Head, National Office of the West African Examinations Council, WAEC, Mr. Patick Areghan announced the release of the result at a news briefing in Lagos.

He explained that out of the One Million, Five Hundred and Thirty-Eight Thousand, Four Hundred and Forty-Five candidates that sat the examination, One Million, Three Thousand Six Hundred and Sixty Eight candidates representing 65. 24% obtained credits and above in a minimum of five subjects, including English Language and Mathematics.

He noted that the performance of candidates in this year’s examination was an improvement on that of last year which was 64. 18%.

Mr. Areghan attributed the improvements in the performance of candidates in this year’s examination on a number of issues including the engagement of students in online teaching by some schools, parents ability to monitor their wards closely during the lockdown which made them to study hard and the social distancing in the examonations halls was also a blessing.

The Head of National office of WAEC in Nigeria also announced that all the candidates that contracted the COVID-19 infection during the conduct of the examination in some states were able to write all their papers and they all recovered fully from the deadly infection.

Mr. Areghan urged all candidate to access their results from their school authorities.

He however said about ten states that were still owing WAEC would not have the results of their students released until they pay.

According to the examination body, the results of Two Hundred and Fifteen Thousand , One Hundred and Forty-Nine candidates, were withheld in connection with alleged cases of examination malpractice.
