NIGERIA’S FIRST LADY BAGS HONORARY DOCTORATE DEGREE FROM JABU

……donates fifty million naira endowment fund to best female students

Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu was among four distinguished individuals who were conferred with Honorary Doctorate Degrees in Public Administration from Joseph Ayo Babalola University at its 15th Convocation held at the Institution in Ikeji Arakeji, Osun State.

The president’s wife, who was represented by Ekiti State First Lady, Dr Olayemi Oyebanji
appreciated the gesture, saying that all her projects since inception of this administration were centered around education as this award would propel her to do more.

She therefore used the platform to announce the donation of 50 million Naira endowment fund to the best graduating female students as it would be spread across years at the discretion of the institution for the benefiting students.

Senator Tinubu also congratulated other distinguished Nigerians who received similar awards like Engineer Ebenezer Osoba, Senator Adeniyi Adegbonmire, Mr Korede Adedayo, among others.

Earlier, the Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Anthony Adegbulugbe said the honorary doctorate degree awards symbolised the recognition of successes the award recipients have recorded in their various callings and contributions to the society and their impact which transcend beyond Nigeria in the area of developing the society.

In a short response, the Pro Chancellor and Chairman of Governing Council, Joseph Ayo Babalola University, Professor Joash Amupitan said the 50 million Naira would be spread across ten years as benefiting students would collect five million Naira each year.

Out of over six hundred graduating class of 2023, Miss Mary Ojone Omachi of Mass Communication department was the overall best graduating student with Cumulative Grade Point Aggregate of 4.88 while glamour was added to the occasion with a poem rendition by a 17-year old undergraduate law student of the University, Miss Elisabeth Ogunmodede as she conveyed messages of renewed hope to all Nigerians.

Dignitaries from all walks of life including the President of Christ Apostolic Church World Wide Pastor Samuel Olusegun Oladele, Giants in the academia from both public and private universities across Nigeria, among others, were well represented at the ceremony.
