New Academic Session in Ekiti;Parents lament Sluggish Admission Process at Govt. Sec. Schools

Parents have expressed frustration over the tortuous delay in pasting the names of successful candidates for admission into Junior Secondary Schools in Ekiti State.

The parents expressed their displeasure following the resumption of new academic session in public and private primary and secondary schools in the state.

Some parents of students seeking admission into junior secondary class in government schools lamented the inability of Ministry of Education officials to paste the names of their children.

According to them, virtually all the public secondary schools in Ekiti State are yet to give admission to JSS 1 students who wrote placement examination about two months ago.

Our correspondents who visited some of the secondary schools including Harding Model College, Ado Ekiti, reports that the new students seeking admission into Junior Secondary School and their parents were not allowed to gain access into the school premises.

In separate interviews, two of the parents, Mrs Ayoola Adeola and Mr Gideon Okoro said officials of the state Ministry of Education ought to have prepared the list of successful students before resumption date, saying the present situation is unfortunate and disappointing.

Other parents whose children were promoted to new classes complained about the cost of books and other learning materials, saying they found it difficult to meet the needs of their children due to the economic hardship affecting the nation.

Our correspondent gathered that the students seeking admission into JSS 1 were not happy as their expectations were not meant.

Efforts to speak with the Commissioner for Education in Ekiti State, Dr Adebimpe Aderiye proved abortive as she was not available for comment.
