Reps slash salaries to assist in food sufficiency

The House of Representatives has decided to contribute #648m to the Federal Government coffers over 6 months by reducing its salaries by 50%.

This initiative is aimed at reducing economic hardship in the country by contributing the funds to enhance food sufficiency.

The house has already instructed its Committee on Appropriation, Humanitarian Affairs, Finance and Budget to ensure implementation of the measures.

The House of Representative members adopted the motion as moved by a member, Hon Ibrahim Isiaka from Ogun State, during plenary.

The lawmakers equally appealed to Nigerians to remain patient with President Bola Tinubu’s administration as it addresses current challenges and hardship.
