Sallah celebration; Ekiti First Lady distributes palliative to farmsteads.

As part of efforts to cushion the effects of the current harsh economic condition, wife of Ekiti State Governor, Dr Olayemi Oyebanji has distributed packs of rice across every household in 14 villages and farmsteads in Ado-Ekiti, the capital of Ekiti State.

The villages included Ugbogun Esumo, Aso Ayegunle, Ago-Aduloju, Ika, ilokun, Irasa, Uso, Igbaye, Oke Aso, Odo ,Ujemu, Igbo Aso,Aaye among others.

Distributing the food items, the governor’s wife who was represented by her Senior Special Assistant on Political Matters, Mrs Toyin Adepoju expressed concern over poor condition of living among the people, hence the need to put smiles on their faces through the palliative gesture especially during this sallah period.

She noted that it became imperative for the Governor’s wife and other political office holders in this present administration to visit farmsteads and the people in general once a while, to know their feelings and aspirations and not wait until the time when their votes would be needed.

Dr Oyebanji appreciated the people for their love, support and prayers over the present administration, urging them to continue in that direction so as to achieve success in all areas.

The governor’s wife who observed that it was not as if government was not concerned about dearth of social amenities in farmsteads across the state, said efforts were in top gear to execute such projects that would make life easy for them as such would be carried out in phases.

The First Lady therefore sought the people’s patience, understanding and collaboration with the present administration inorder to deliver dividend of democracy to the door steps of common man.

The beneficiaries of the gesture who were mostly from different ethnic groups namely; Tiv, Ebira, Urobo and Yoruba could not hide their joy and expressed appreciation through various choruses as well as prayed God to give the present administration the enablement to do more for the benefit of mankind.

Earlier, the village heads in various farmsteads visited including, the Ologun Esumo of Esumo-Igbogun Chief Sunday Oyebade, the Olu of Ika, Chief Adewale Fapohunda and, Olokun of Ilokun Chief Akeem Adewumi called for equipped health centres, regular grading of their roads which connect the farms with the main town, provision of potable water and power supply.

The three consecutive days rice distribution had in attendance, Local government chairmen like Chief Bosun Osaloni, Prince Bolu Aladesanmi, various Senior Special Assistants to governor’s wife among many other aides.
