Man Bags Jail Term in Ekiti Over Certificate Forgery

An Ekiti state magistrate Court sitting in Ado Ekiti has sentenced a former coordinator of an affiliated school of Edo State Institute of Technology and Management to three years imprisonment with an option of fine of one hundred thousand naira for issuing fake certificate to students.

The former coordinator of the institute of technology and management now Edo State polytechnic allegedly issued falsified certificate of National Diploma to Mrs Mojisola Cecilia Osaloni and others.

The certificate was discovered to have been forged upon submission at the Ekiti State Local Government Service Commission by Mrs Osaloni.

In his ruling, chief magistrate Adesoji Adegboye noted that the accused was guilty of two count charge of conspiracy and forgery.

Counsel to the accused person, Mr Anthony Ajere had pleaded with the court to have mercy on his client while the legal prosecutor, Mr olaniyi Akinlabi said the accused failed to remit school fees paid by the affected students during their academic years to appropriate quarters.
