The Organised Labour in Ekiti State has called on the BEDC Electricity Plc to make prepaid meters available for all residents of the State in line with the Federal Government directive on one house one metre.
Also, the labour force advised the Ekiti State Government to ensure quick completion of the ongoing water projects in the State so as to enable people have access to tap water.
The leadership of the Union made the calls during a visit to management of BEDC and Ekiti State Water Cooperation in Ado Ekiti.
Speaking at the office of BEDC, Chairman of Trade Union Congress TUC in Ekiti State, Comrd. Sola Adigun expressed concern over the delay in the distribution of prepaid meters to customers saying most houses in Ekiti are without prepaid meters.
Also, the Secretary, Ekiti State Joint Negotiation Council, Comrd. Gbenga Olowoyo lamented how some communities were subjected to total darkness.
The NLC Chairman, Comrd. Kolapo Olatunde, frown at the situation where power availability via 132KV and other sources are not being made available for consumers as expected in Ekiti State.
Speaking at the office of the Ekiti State Water Corporation, the Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress NLC, Comrd. Kolapo called on the State government to ensure completion of the ongoing water projects, noting that only small percentage of Ekiti residents have access to drinkable water.
