RIVERS CRISIS: 5 More Commissioners Resign

Five more Commissioners have resigned their appointments from the cabinet of Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara.

The Commissioners, who were reportedly in the camp of former Governor Nyesom Wike are those of Works, Dr Des George-Kelly; Special Duties, Emeka Woke; Social Welfare and Rehabilitation, Mrs Inime Aguma; Finance, Isaac Kamalu and Education, Professor Chinedu Mmom.

They joined the former Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Professor Zacchaeus Adangor who had earlier resigned, to make it six, the number of Commissioners who resigned in the last few days.

All the former Commissioners confirmed their resignation to newsmen through telephone and gave reasons which include, having other commitments, conscience, personal principles, among others.

Earlier in the week starting from 11th December, 2023, 27 pro-Wike lawmakers in the House of Assembly defected from the PDP to APC, the Commissioner for Justice resigned, the Court declared pro-Fubara Speaker as the authentic one, the state Government demolished the House of Assembly Complex while the pro-Fubara 4-man House sat and approved the state 2024 budget.
