Nigeria Institution of Civil Engineers In Ekiti Holds Annual General Meeting…As Expert Advocates Quality Control Of Construction Works.

Effective quality control in construction process has been identified as one of the ways to attain sustainable infrastructural development in the country.

A retired Lecturer in the Department of Engineering, Federal Polytechnic Ado-Ekiti, Mr Joseph Adams stated this at the Annual General Meeting of the Nigerian Institution of Civil Engineers, NICE, Ekiti State Chapter.

Mr Adams identified some of the factors militating against effective quality control to include corruption, unqualified personnel, non-adherence to specifications and guidelines among others.

He however stressed the need for stakeholders in the construction sector to be up and doing, by ensuring that projects under construction were adequately supervised to ensure quality of the work.

In his goodwill message, the Chairman, Nigeria Society of Engineers, NSE, Ekiti state chapter, Mr. Olusegun Aluko who spoke through the Deputy Chairman, Mrs Omotola Alawode commended the Nigeria Institution of Civil Engineers, Ekiti State Chapter for living up to expectation in the discharge of their duties.

At the programme, some prominent indigenes of Ekiti State, including the Vice Chancellor, Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology, BOUESTI, Ikere-Ekiti, Professor Victor Adeoluwa, Professor Olugbenga Aribisala, Mr. Ebenezer Ologuntoye and Mr Okoro Toyin among others were given award of excellence.

Some construction companies, such as Lead Gate Global construction limited, Dromo International construction limited, KOPEK construction limited and Immobilare construction limited were also honoured with awards.
