Mismanagement of the rich natural resources as well as selfish leadership have been identified as the clogs slowing down the pace of economic and political growth of the country.
Pastor Taiwo Agbanigo of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Solution Parish Ikere Ekiti who made this known in an interview on the 61st Independence anniversary of Nigeria celebration called on leaders to reignite the vision of the founding fathers.
“Today we have so many things that have divided us than those things that are united us. The type of government we are practicing (democracy) is not working well for us because power is too concentrated at the centre”
“I want to say that if Nigeria can go back to practicing regional, it was through that Nigeria witnessed development in 70s. We had the cocoa house built, first Television and Radio network in Africa were out in place during the period of regional government”
Pastor Agbanigo who lamented that despite the mineral and human resources that were embedded in the country, the nation was still struggling to meet the yearnings of the citizens of good governance.
According to him “God has graciously blessed this country with everything it needed to be great but the bad leaders we are having has remained the major problem causing us stagnation and setbacks”
“To me I think it is high time the different tribes sit down and renegotiate this country. Every part should be getting equal treatment not that one part will be subjugating the other. When these are done, Nigeria will be better” Pastor Agbanigo concluded.
